Hi everyone,

should I talk about my frustrations on my blog?
I thought it wouldn't be an honest blog if I didn't share what was happening throughout my build!

So over the last few months some things have been happening & today it has been quite annoying really!
Have waited quite a while to share with you all, as I was hoping pd would give me the credit I feel owed from the changes in my site! !

1. Was lied to at tender - told didn't know who my neighbours were when they had signed up with the same builder 4 months prior.

2. Upon signing off my neighbours plans saw that they were building with same builder & we both had a retaining wall each on the same boundary! Theirs was alot smlr than mine though! When I questioned them was told if we went to site together this would become one wall!

3. So we went to site together & one wall was built 2 wks ago. I was told that we would both pay 50/50 for that one wall!! Doesn't seem to be!! My credit was not half of the cost from original tender, I am paying 80% of the wall!

4. Lastly a big chunk of the wall wasn't built because my neighbours garage is going on our boundary, fine by me to help my neighbours out :-) but apparently I'm carrying some of their costs for their garage wall!

Feel great venting my frustrations!

  1. How fair can that be... so PD practically double dipping? You had to pay extra for the retaining wall which wasn't built because your neighbour garage is going to be there while at the same time they are charging your neighbour for the garage wall as well. If the retaining wall is shown in the contract & drawing, I would insist that they build it despite the garage is going to be there, or give your money back.

  2. Hi ssaz,
Very depressing the whole wall issue!
All very odd about what's happened!
I've been trying to fight it for weeks!
I have let pd know clearly how I feel.
    Pissed! Lol
I think the thing that got me going was the lies at tender, the delays in my site due to them having to re-draw everything! And finally paying 80% when I was told it would be 50%!

  3. Mel,
Question: If your neighbours signed with PD 4 months earlier than you, what took them so long to go to site? It's almost as through they (either your neighbours, PD or both) were waiting for you to come along to pay for the wall

If they had scraped and laid the slab on their site, wouldn't there have been issues with their garage slab when your block was scraped? If so, this again is in PD's favour as they have to guarantee your neighbours slab for 7 years.

Seems as though you've been ripped off in more ways than one! What would have happened to that boundary if you were with a different builder?

So many questions...ha ha ha. Rant away though if it helps!!
